okay, so i know this is no where close to being related to what you come here for, which is food, but please, bear with me.
as you may probably have heard, hong kong is currently in a state of civil disobedience, as there have been protests in central, admiralty, causeway bay, and even mong kok for universal suffrage. it's all over the world news, and it's the consistent hot story here in hong kong.

香港是我家
although i am in no way as involved politically as many others, i have to say it. it's been on my heart for the past 24 hours, and i am writing this post right now to say that i am outraged.
as a resident and citizen of hong kong, as a fellow student, as a friend, as family, as a hongkonger; i am outraged. i am outraged at the way the government is handling this situation. i am outraged by the attacks of tear gas and pepper spray that has been launched at innocent protesters. i am outraged by the lack of humanity and the cowardice that has been shown towards the demonstrators the day before yesterday, yesterday, and today.
but not only am i outraged; i am disappointed. i am disappointed by the police force of hong kong, whom i have regarded as (generally) trustworthy, and humane. i am disappointed by the orders that has been carried out by the so called servers of justice, the so called peace keepers. if this is peace, i would fear to know even slight chaos. if this is the peace the police force can bring my city, then i fear living here. what sort of peace is this?
my outrage and disappointment besides, i must commend those who have boycotted classes, those who have been to the protest, those who are at the protest, and those who have distributed supplies to the protesters. you are not just the protesters who are demonstrating for what you believe in; you are icons of perseverance and the only hope the next generations of hong kong have. and as someone who has had both family and friends there, i offer my support; in text, in this virtual form, in moral support, and in spirit.
i was born in hong kong, raised in hong kong. i am a proud citizen and resident of hong kong. and above all, hong kong is my home. this beautiful and unique city will always have it's place in my heart, and i would hate to see chaos descend upon it. and so, with a worried heart and as a supporter, i urge and ask you to pray with me for our city. for hong kong. my home.
